The problem

Registering for EMDR training involves more than buying a seat. The checkout needs to collect eligibility agreements and contact and professional information for each participant. A purchaser can register on behalf of someone else or purchase for multiple people on one order, so the participant information collected needs to match the quantity purchased.

What I built

I rewrote the training checkout as a staged registration flow on EMDR Consulting’s WordPress and WooCommerce site. A three-step indicator follows the visitor through Agreements, Participant, and Checkout.

The agreements stage separates eligibility requirements, the notice of disclosure, and participant terms into scrollable panels. Each panel must be read through before its acknowledgement becomes available.

The participant stage collects information for each person based on the order quantity: contact details, an emergency contact, clinical status, and accommodation requests. Professional fields change with each participant’s clinical status, including license details or supporting documentation for provisional clinicians and students. The purchaser can register themselves or provide participant information on behalf of others.

The final stage brings together the purchaser’s contact and billing information, order summary, coupons, and payment options.

Result

The checkout is live on EMDR Consulting’s training site. The screenshots below follow one standard-price virtual training registration from rate selection through the final payment page, using fictional participant details. The walkthrough stopped before placing an order or entering card information.
